What is included in the Wedding Reception package?
This includes hire of the Assembly Hall and terrace overlooking the Salcombe Estuary from 8am-midnight, set up time the day before, round tables, chairs, white chair covers and starched white table linen and napkins, white crockery, cutlery and glasses along with a Duty Manager throughout the day and evening, use of our professionally-equipped kitchens, all day staffed Cliff House bar, sound system, projector, screen and stage. The rate also includes preparation of the hall, chair covers and all cleaning.
How many guests can Cliff House accommodate?
We can seat a maximum of 150 guests although 100-120 guests is more comfortable. Guests are seated at 5' round tables, with 8/10 to a table. We also have 13 x 6' trestle tables and highchairs if required. Our maximum for ‘standing'/evening guests is 200.

Who does the catering?
That's entirely up to you! We can recommend a number of very professional local caterers who offer a wide range of menus from a traditional wedding breakfast to a hog roast, and from canapés to cream teas, but you are not restricted to our suggestions - our well-equipped kitchen is available for use by whoever you choose to provide the catering.
How many guests can we have at our civil ceremony?
We are licensed for 100 in the library and 200 in the Asembly Hall.
Do you have drinks packages to offer?
Yes we have very competitive drinks packages that we can tailor to your requirements for wine and bubbly. You also have a full wine list to choose from. The Cliff House bar is open from an hour before your event until midnight. We can always order in special drinks for your guests. Our wine supplier is very knowledgable and will help you with your selection. We do not offer a corkage option.
Can we bring our own alcohol ?
We are sorry but all alcohol consumed on the premises must be bought through Cliff House.
Can we have just a civil ceremony at Cliff House?
Yes, you have the option of a simple ceremony in either the Assembly Hall or our newly refurbished library on the first floor. This package includes hire of the room and terrace for 2 hours, chairs and white chair covers, preparation and cleaning. For all civil ceremonies you will need to liaise separately with the Registrar to secure the date.

Can we decorate the room ourselves?
Absolutely! We will prepare the tables with starched white linen and the chairs with white chair covers: you are welcome to add as many bespoke touches as you wish. We can recommend local florists along with a range of event hire companies which specialise in all manner of table dressings, centre pieces, chair accessories, chair sashes, decorations, vintage china etc.
How about a marquee on the terrace?
No problem - we work with a couple of great local companies who stock a range of marquees in different sizes and styles who can give you a free quotation.
Can we have a DJ or a band? Is there room for a dance floor?
Of course! We can also provide a stage if you wish. There is ample room in the assembly hall for a ‘designated' dance area with up to 80 guests: for larger weddings a few tables are removed at the appropriate moment to create space for dancing. Our licence permits music until 11:45pm.
Does Cliff House have disabled access?
Yes indeed - Cliff House has both a lift and a disabled toilet.
Are we allowed confetti?
Yes, as long as it is outside on the terrace.
